Sic Bo Rules - How to Play

The game of Sic Bo is played on a specially designed table specifically for this game. It is a game that uses three dice to determine the outcome of each round. Once all the players have made their bets, the dealer will, using a special cage, roll the three dice and depending on the outcome, pay out the players accordingly.

Sic Bo Betting:

The basic goal to Sic Bo is to predict which numbers will come up when three dice are thrown. You will make one 8 different types of bets before the dice are thrown and depending on the bet and the outcome you will be paid out accordingly. The following outlines these different types of bets.

1.Single Number Bets.

At the bottom of the Sic Bo table you will find six betting areas marked with the numbers 1 – 6 (referring to the 6 sides of a die). This is were you would make your single number bets. You place your bet on the number of your choice and when the three dice are thrown if 1 of the dice matches your number you will be paid out in even money (or 1-1). If two of the dice show your number than you will be paid out 2 -1 and finally if all three dice show that number then you win 3x’s your bet, 3-1. For example, you bet $10 on the number 4. When the dice are thrown. Two of them are showing a 4. You will consequently win $20 (twice your original bet) on top of receiving your original bet back. If only one of the dice is a four, the dealer will give you $20, your $10 bet plus another $10 profit. And if all three are fours, then you will profit $30, three times your original.

2. Two Number Combinations.

These bets are made in the same area as the single number bets, on the numbers at the bottom of the table. However with this bet you are predicting that two numbers will come up when the dice are thrown. Since this is a little harder to achieve the payouts are higher at 6-1. For example, you place your $10 bet on the numbers 4 and 6. When the dice are thrown, a 2, 4 and 6 show up. In this case you are a winner and will earn $60. However, say the dice are thrown and they show 4, 4 and 6. In this case you will be paid out for achieving your combination but you will only get paid once, even thought it looks as though you hit the combination twice. Unfortunately in Sic Bo, it is only possible to be paid once when making two number combination bets.

3. Three Number Totals

This type of bet is made in the centre of the table on the squares marked 4 – 17. With this bet you are not guessing on the specific numbers shown on the dice but the total of all three dice when added together. For example, a throw showing a 3, 4, and 6 would have a total of 13. The number 13 is what you are betting on. Since there are many different combinations, some easier to achieve than others, the payouts for these bets will vary. The payouts for different totals are as follows:

Totals Payouts

4 or 17 50 – 1

5 or 16 25 – 1

6 or 15 15 – 1

7 or 14 10 – 1

8 or 13 6 – 1

9 or 12 5 – 1

10 or 11 5 – 1

Note: In Sic Bo, totals of 3 or 18 are an automatic loss for every player.

4. Small or Big Wager

In the top two corners of the Sic Bo table are two betting areas labeled Small (Petit) or Big (Gros). By making a bet in one of these areas you are betting that the total of the three dice will be between 4 and 11 (for a small bet) or 11 and 17 (a big bet). Both of these bets are paid out at 1-1 odds (or even money).

5. Triplet and Pair Bets

In Sic Bo Triplet Bets pay out the highest odds at 150-1. In order to win this size payout you must bet that all three dice will show the same number that you predicted. For example, you bet on “Triplet 4”, all three dice must show the 4 for you to win. You also have the option of betting on “Any Triplet”. In this case you are betting that all three dice will show up with three of the same number, any number 1 through 6. The payout for this option is lower at 25 -1, since there are 6 chances of achieving this outcome. Finally there are “Pair Bets”. This is a bet predicting that the number chosen will appear on two of the three dice thrown. This bet pays the player out at 11-1.
